Jodrell Bank Commission

I was delighted to attend the opening of our ‘Cosmic Threads’ collaboration exhibition at Jodrell Bank recently. We had over 200 people attending with many of the contributors to our community collaboration present.

It was very moving to see participants taking ‘selfies’ in front of their pieces. The ten hangings and extra piece by a Stockport primary school light up the space and there is a catalogue to accompany the project available in the shop.

Dr. Isabella Rosner of the RSN has written a lovely introduction.

It was a great honour to be invited to make a piece for the 80th anniversary of Jodrell Bank. The finished mixed media embroidery includes hand and machine stitching, digital and block printing. It will be displayed in the First Light Centre.

I would like to thank Emma Pemberton-Eccles, Lauren Trim of the outreach team and Profs Teresa Anderson and Tim O’Brien for their support throughout this extraordinary project.https://www.jodrellbank.net/events/cosmic-threads-community-quilt-exhibition/
